20/7/2010 Open Water Hero! We have spent much time talking about our diddy swimmers so for a change today we're going to publicise some of the efforts of one of our senior swimmers. Andy "Mackaniac" Mackay came in 2nd in the 40-49 age category at the ASA Open water midlands championships at market Bosworth. He came in with a time of 22 mins 52 seconds for the 1500m race. He deserved the success because he spent the whole of Saturday trying to paint a blue line on the bottom of the lake. So well played to the big man. Maybe this could be used as a catalyst to get a team down there next year? Open water swimming is quite different to being in a pool, its about 6 degrees colder and there arent any turns, (unless you come up to a flock of geese). So until you have tried it you'll never know how talented you may be at it! The triathlon club run a session there which can be joined by none members every Thursday evening. 14/7/2010 JCC Summer Stoppage Our sessions at JCC will be closed for the first week of the school holidays, sessions effected are: Saturday 17th July, Monday 19th July, Wednesday 21st July and Saturday 24th July. JCC restarts on July 26th and will continue uninhibited till the break in August.
