News from the 2013 Midlands Age Group Championships
Exciting times for Hinckley Swimming Club swimmers - they have enjoyed some absolutely fantastic swims with everyone having PB's of some degree (overall or long course). Along with Sam Oliver and Joel Weston swimming at their 1st Midlands this must be classed as one of those "yearsö for Hinckley Swimmers ... firstly truly an outstanding job to get there, and secondly, to turn on a performance like we have seen:
Competing:
Chloe Parker-Mead competing in the Girls 11 Years 100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke & 200m Breaststroke;
Harry Puffett competing in 12 Year old 100m, 200m & 400m Freestyle, 100m and 200m Backstroke, 200m & 400m Individual Medley;
Joel Weston competing in 12 Year old 100m & 200m Freestyle, 100m & 200m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke, 100m & 200m Butterfly, 200m & 400m Individual Medley;
Josh Munroe competing in 12 Year old 100m, 200m & 400m Freestyle, 100m & 200m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke, 100m & 200m Butterfly, 200m & 400m Individual Medley;
Rhys Chiles competing in 13 Year old 400m Freestyle, 100m & 200m Breaststroke, 200m & 400m Individual Medley;
Ryan Gordon competing in 14 Year old 100m, 200m, & 400m Freestyle, 100m & 200m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke, 100m & 200m Butterfly, 200m & 400m Individual Medley;
Sam Oliver competing in 12 Year old 100m Freestyle;
Tom Ryan competing in 12 Year old 100m, 200m, 400m & 1500m Freestyle, 100m & 200m Backstroke, 100m & 200m Butterfly, 200m & 400m Individual Medley;
Finalists:
Hinckley swimmers made it through to 5 finals, and in 2 of them we had 3 swimmers - not bad!!! Finalists included Ryan Gordon (100m & 200m Butterfly), Josh Munroe (200m Individual Medley, 200m Freestyle), Joel Weston (200m Individual Medley, 200m Butterfly, 200m Freestyle), and Tom Ryan (200m Individual Medley, 200m Butterfly, 200m Freestyle).
Individual Top 10 finishes from:
Harry Puffett: 100m Backstroke (8th)
Joel Weston: 200m IM (8th in the Final), 200m Freestyle (6th in the Final), 100m Butterfly (2nd) & 200m Butterfly (4th in the Final)
Josh Munroe: 100m Backstroke (4th), 200m IM (4th= in final), 100m Butterfly (3rd=), 200m Butterfly (9th) & 100m Freestyle (2nd);
Ryan Gordon: 100m Butterfly (5th in Final), 200m Butterfly (1st in Final), 400m Freestyle (10th);
Tom Ryan: 200m Individual Medley (1st= in Final), 200m Freestyle (2nd in Final), 400m IM (2nd), 400m Freestyle (2nd), 100m Freestyle (3rd), 1500m Freestyle (3rd), 100m Butterfly (7th) & 200m Butterfly (6th in Final);
Nationals Qualifications achieved @ Midlands:
Joel added the 400m Individual Medley to his 100m & 200m Butterfly 12 year old National qualifying times, Ryan Gordon added the 200m Butterfly to his 100m Butterfly 14 year old National qualifying time and Tom Ryan gained his 1st 13 year old National qualifying time in the 400m Freestyle.
Also, Ryan Gordon and Tom Ryan competed as part of the City of Leicester relay team(s) all reaching the National Age Groups. Ryan & Tom were part of 4x200m Freestyle relay team (3rd), Ryan was also part of the 4x100m Freestyle relay team (3rd) and 4x100m Medley relay team (6th).

12yr Boys: Tom Ryan (2nd), Josh Munroe (6th), Joel Weston (11th) & Harry Puffett (22nd), & Sam Oliver (47th)
13yr Boys: Rhys Chiles (34th)
14yr Boys: Ryan Gordon (12th)
Well done to Chloe, Harry, Joel, Josh, Rhys, Ryan, Sam, and Tom for the great results!!! This has been an exciting time for Hinckley Swimmers and maybe just maybe we'll increase the number of swimmers attending the 2014 Midland Age Groups.
