Before we get going, if you have any stories we're not talking about, any medal photos or whatever to add to the article, send them in to [email protected]

...Its been a while, so lets do a roundup of all the good stuff that's been going on in the world of Hinckley SC, taking a look at some of our guys operating at an elite level, and other achievements too.

Best Story Ever
Top of the list; Joel Weston, after a unprecedented rise to the national finals in 2012-13 from nowhere, Joel smashed apart his PB en route to taking the national 13 years 200m Butterfly championship. He's the first HSC national champion in over 20 years. everybody at the club is over the moon, its such a rare feat and we're all stoked!

National Finalists
Joining Joel at the national finals was Tom Ryan who put in a 1500m Free in a little over 17 minutes, a stunning swim and a real breakthrough for him, superb stuff.

Massive congratulations to Rebecca Orton who made her first ever national finals in the 50m Fly, and also joing her for the 2nd year, Georgia Petch in the 100m Breaststroke. Both of those guys are 16, so it proves you don't need to be there at 12, it can come later if you work for it!

Rhys Chiles and Josh Munroe also took part in the relays for the COL at the championships, so well done to them.

Midlands Championships
We had for the first time Jamie Kettle qualifying for the regional championships, a wonderful achievement, Jamie has worked for many years at becoming a great technician and with a lot of guts and a boat load of determination has got him to that level, we're very proud of him!

Joining Jamie was the rest of COL contingent; Sam Oliver for the 2nd time, Rebecca Orton, Georgia Petch, Callum Stretton, Ryan Gordon, Rhys Chiles, Harry Puffett, Tom Ryan and Josh Munroe.

County Champs
Another good year for HSC, despite the tightening of entries we still achieved a good mass of medals and winners. A shout out to first time medallists this year; Connor Gardner and Chloe Mann!

International Childrens Games
Congratulations to Ryan Gordon and Tom Ryan on being selected to take part in the International Childrens Games representing the county in Australia, this is later in the year.

Ryan smashes it
Another feather in the cap for Ryan Gordon; he smashed up the county 200m short-course fly record, it had stood for 14 years! He also was selected for the Midlands area in the English schools games an picked up Bronze in the 200m fly, so thats pretty awesome. Tom Ryan and Josh Munroe were also selected for the same team, great news for HSC!

COL intake
Congratulations to Jamie Kettle and Sam Oliver on being taken on full time by the City of Leicester having broken into the development squad at the start of the 13/14 season. James Le Grice and Carys O' Reilly have now joined them this season after being in development for 2 seasons.

Also huge congratulations to 4 swimmers who've been offered development places this season which in itself is a great achievement. So take a bow; Josh Ward, Macy Norton, Cailin Hancock and Hannah Lynch.

2014 Team Captains
This years team captains are Jack Cave & Chloe Parker-Mead, Sam Goodwin & Emily Shreeve (Diddys), Justin "the gaffer" beasley and for the 2nd year Sian sippitt and Ruth friswell in the sneiors.

Well done to the whole team; Justin Beasley, Rhiannon Chiles, Rhys Chiles, Anna Duffy, John Edwards, Stephen Farrell, Ruth Friswell, Connor Gardner, Ryan Gordon, Ewan Hamilton, Tegan Kettle, James Le-Grice, Chloe Mann, Will McArthur, Josh Munroe, Sam Oliver, Carys O' Reilly, Rebecca Orton, Chloe Parker-Mead, Georgia Petch, Harry Puffett, Paige Rayner, Tom Ryan, Sian Sippitt, callum Stretton, Jess Trotman, Grace Vann, Andy Wainscott, Joel Weston, Imogen Wright.

Winter League
The last of our run of promotions we somehow managed to get our 2nd team promoted to the top division in the Leicester Winter league. It shows how far we've come, in 2010 we got the first team promoted back up and we've got stronger every year, this was the 3rd year of the B-team, so awesome achievement for all of us!

Birley Trophy
We took the Birley trophy at Coalville in June, great job to our diddy swimmers, fantastic stuff!

Coaching
Well done Ben Fenwick and Emily Booth who got there level 1 teaching award at the start of the year. Please contact John or Paul if you are interested in doing the same!

We now have 4 level 2 qualified water polo coaches, Nick & Peter Hunter, Colin Holden and Chris Tongue all passed there awards.
