Please find a copy of the email sent out to all Bear Trophy Swimmers on Thursday 9th June

Dear Parents, Guardians & Swimmers,

Round 2 of the Bear trophy happens this Sunday @ 5pm and to assist with the smooth running of it and for it to finish on time we want to put in some extra procedures to reduce the time everyone is on poolside. Please can I ask that you go through this message with the swimmers.

For new members Bear Trophy replaces all the Main Pool sessions and the 7.15-8pm Community pools session on a Sunday

The main thing we will be looking at is to fill all available lanes. The reason for this is Water Polo are due in at 8 and also I am sure that you want to be home as early as possible as it is very hot on the balcony

First of all it is NOW a 5pm start.

For safety reasons all swimmers will need to register their name with one of the volunteers in the corridor near the entrance to the Changing Village. To avoid over-crowding in the changing area can swimmers register at the times below

4.35pm – 4.50 register for Children born in 2006 2007 2008 & 2009

4.50- 5.05 register for 2005 & older swimmers

PLEASE NOTE IT IS STILL THE PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THE SWIMMERS GET CHANGED & GO ONTO POOLSIDE

Please can all 10 & U swimmers be on poolside for 5pm but not before 4.55pm through the right hand side main pool entrance.

We will commence warm up straight away and look to do a shorter warm up for the younger swimmers
5.05pm Warm up for 10 & Unders.

Please can all 11 & Over swimmers be on poolside for 5.10pm through the right hand side main pool entrance.

5.15pm Warm Up for 11 & Under

Once warm up is complete, as normal we will start with the younger swimmers. Whilst we want to fill as many lanes as possible we will not mix 2008 Born/ Community pool, 2007 Born & 2006 Born swimmers in the same heats

Can we ask that all swimmers stay on poolside and not go on the balcony in swim kit or hang around in the Changing Area when not racing as this is not allowed by the Leisure Centre. Also kit bags and food is not allowed on poolside and must be stored in the lockers. We advise swimmers to take goggles, hat and a drink in a small drawstring bag.

If all those who are born in the years 2006 2007 2008 2009 please stay under the balcony
If all those who are born in 2005 or before please stay by the windows of the pool

We will then ask all swimmers to line up and direct 8 swimmers at a time to their lanes for each heat. 25 Metre races will all start at the end opposite to the blocks. They will then stay in that heat for the night and it is the swimmers responsibility to make sure they are there for all 4/5 races. If they miss their heat then it is likely there won't be time to arrange another swim. Please note as we want all 8 lanes full for as many races as possible, it may mean that a swimmer may not swim next to their friends.

Further details of the points system and races involved in Bear Trophy, and results from R1 are on the club's website
