Round 3 of the Bear trophy happens this Sunday @ 5pm (September 18th) and to assist with the smooth running of it and for it to finish on time we want to remind you of the extra procedures to reduce the time everyone is on poolside. Please can I ask that you go through this message with the swimmers as well. Please note to avoid congestion in the changing rooms 2005 born and older swimmers will not be allowed into the changing rooms before 5pm.

For new members Bear Trophy replaces all of the Sundays Main Pool sessions and Sundays 7.15-8pm Community pool session. Bear Trophy is open to all main pool swimmers who attend any of the Tuesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, JCC sessions & also Sundays Stage 6 7.15-8pm session in the community pool.

Details of the races are here. http://www.hinckleyswimmingclub.co.uk/page/about-the-bear-trophy/223/

The main thing we will be looking at is to fill all available lanes. The reason for this is Water Polo are due in at 8 and now there is a public swim at 9pm so we cannot over run. Also I am sure that you want to be home as early as possible as it is very hot on the balcony

For safety reasons all swimmers will need to register their name with one of the volunteers in the corridor near the entrance to the Changing Village. To avoid over-crowding in the changing area can swimmers register at the times below.

4.35pm – 4.50 register for Children born in 2006 2007 2008 & 2009(Please ensure your child knows what year they were born)

5pm – 5.10 register for 2005 born swimmers or older. This age group of older swimmers will not be allowed to enter the changing village until 5 pm

PLEASE NOTE IT IS STILL THE PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THE SWIMMERS GET CHANGED & GO ONTO POOLSIDE

There will be people to meet you at the entrance to pool side to show you where to sit

We will commence warm up straight away and look to do a shorter warm up for the younger swimmers
5.05pm Warm up for 10 & Unders.

5.15pm Warm Up for 11 & Under

Races start at 5.30pm

Once warm up is complete, as normal we will start with the younger swimmers. Whilst we want to fill as many lanes as possible we will aim not to mix 2008 Born/ Community pool, 2007 Born & 2006 Born swimmers in the same heats

Can we ask that all swimmers stay on poolside and not go on the balcony in swim kit or hang around in the Changing Area when not racing as this is not allowed by the Leisure Centre. Also kit bags and food is not allowed on poolside and must be stored in the lockers. We advise swimmers to take goggles, hat and a drink in a small drawstring bag.

If all those who are born in the years 2006 2007 2008 2009 please stay under the balcony.

If all those who are born in 2005 or before please stay by the windows of the pool

We will then ask all swimmers to line up and direct 8 swimmers at a time to their lanes for each heat. 25 Metre races will all start at the end opposite to the blocks. They will then stay in that heat for the night and it is the swimmers responsibility to make sure they are there for all 4/5 races. If they miss their heat then it is likely there won't be time to arrange another swim. Please note as we want all 8 lanes full for as many races as possible, it may mean that a swimmer may not swim next to their friend..For 2005 born or older swimmer, please line up with who you want to swim with and we will do our best to accommodate this.

To give us an idea of numbers please can you click the link to let us know you are attending.

Further details of the points system and races involved in Bear Trophy, and results from R1 are on the club's website. Just a reminder that Bear Trophy is a night where swimmers get the chance to get some new times for events, race practice and a way of measuring improvement, and for the swimmers to enjoy it.

If you can help with Timekeeping please email [email protected] . If you are interested in learning how to Timekeep they are also running a course before Bear Trophy to show everyone how to do it.

If you can help on the night registering swimmers please let me know by reply email. You need to be at the LC for 4.30pm

Thanks

Martin Lynch
