20 Jan 2012

We are very sorry to let you know that on Sunday one of our members, George Dronfield passed away peacefully in his sleep after losing his battle with a long term illness, he was just 10 years old.

George was only 9 when he was diagnosed with cancer in the middle of 2010. Despite fighting a long, hard and courageous battle, last Sunday night he very sadly succumbed to to his illness.

George was a very bright, enthusiastic, amiable young man, seemingly with a very bright future. He was also a very talented swimmer and no doubt would have gone on to achieve well in this field as well, unfortunately it was not to be.
George was a keen member of our club and it is a tragedy that one so young and fresh should be taken away before his time. He will be missed by all his friends and teachers at the club, and we know many hold fond memories of his time with us.

We will be marking Georges passing in some way and we will announce these plans in the near future.

George's family wish to build up a book of stories and memories, if you would like to contribute to that, or this very tribute, or would like any further information, please contact Sue Phillips (

)

Finally, as a club, we would like to offer our heartfelt sympathy and best wishes to George's parents Sandra and Mark, his older brother Jamie (who has also been a member of our club) and George's young sister Amy-Lou, together with all of his friends and schoolmates who will be hurting an awful lot at this moment.

Our heartfelt condolences to you all.
