Open Water Swimming is one of the fastest growing sports of the present moment, it's popularity being increased by its debut at the olympics in 2008. So we're proud to announce we've had a good number of swimmers training on Thursday night.

Last Sunday the East Midlands championship race was held at Bosworth and for the first time we had 4 representatives, and for the very first time 2 in the junior 12-16 category.

Abbie Liston (above left) and Rebecca Orton (above right) came in 35th and 39th with a very respectable 20:17 and 20:30. Bare in mind this is a 12-16 race category and they are just 14 and 13, and also that the field is littered with City swimmers, so the race position doesn't do them credit as there aren't many provincial clubs entering swimmers.

Andy "Mackaniac" Mackay (above and below) got 3rd time lucky after being runner up in 2009 and 2010; he went one better this year and picked up the win in the 40-49 category. Having achieved this one of his team mates (who shall remain nameless) has challenged him to race the channel...

Finally our veteran Dave Cobb in the 60+ category pulled out a very respectable 29:34, so well done to him!
