Back in September I advised the club swimmers and parents of a reorganisation of sessions that would be undertaken over the forthcoming months. As you may recall I said we were going to undertake this in two stages; the first was to speak with a small number of swimmers about some major changes we wanted to make to the sessions they were swimming in; the second was to be a progression of all remaining swimmers into their new groups.

The first part of the changes took place during October last year however the second part of the change was gazumped by an announcement by the council to open a new pool in Hinckley. The announcement although we knew would happen at some point were surprised it had progressed as far as it had.

We have been in discussion with the council and the new operator about the new pool, which put the changes we had planned back a little.

Although we do not have a confirmed opening date(expected summer of 2015) or confirmation of the times we will be offered at the new pool however it is clear that both could be different to what we have today if nothing more because the new pool will have eight lanes rather than six which will mean changes to our sessions.

As a result of the delay I informed the clubs committee at its April meeting I felt it prudent not to make wholesale changes at this time as we are almost certainly going to have to make changes when we move to the new pool.

Notwithstanding the above movements between groups all progression between the various "squads” will be made in accordance with the originally proposed teaching and coaching structure.  This should mean that overtime we will be better placed to make changes when the new pool opens in 2015.

If you want to discuss any of the above please do not hesitate to contact me.
