Hinckley Hornets swimming teacher Keeley Peace won a bronze award in the 2013 National KelloggÆs Swimtastic Swimming Awards which took place in Birmingham in November.

In a glittering ceremony that followed a day of fun in the pool with BritainÆs top swimming stars, including Olympic champions Sharron Davies and Steve Parry, Keeley was declared the Bronze Award winner in the Top Teacher category.

Keeley took part in a day of swimming fun with the GB synchro team, played water polo and built a raft.  And admitted to being a little star struck meeting her swimming idol Sharron Davies.

Keeley is a familiar face at the Leisure Centre teaching swimming to children of all ages and also coaches for Hinckley Swimming Club, The Hornets.

Keeley said, "It was great to see so many people being celebrated for their swimming over the 11 categories. Swimming is so important to so many people from all backgrounds and of all ages and that's what makes an event like this so special.  I love teaching kids to swim it's the only sport where you can learn to save your own life, so to be nominated and receive a bronze award is amazing."

Keeley was nominated for the top teacher award by colleagues at The Hinckley Leisure Centre.

Paul Sippit, Hinckley Hornets Head Coach added, "Keeley is a great teacher and coach, she dedicates so much of her time to swimming and so it's testament that she's been recognised for her work, and we're lucky to have her at the club."

The annual KelloggÆs Swimtastic Awards are organised by the ASA, the national governing body for swimming, and celebrate the achievements of swimmers of all ages and abilities from around the country as voted for by people involved in sport.
