Venues unless stated are to be confirmed. We will send out availability emails approximately 4/5 weeks before the gala date.

The most important galas for the club are the Diddy Leagues and the Arena/Autumn leagues followed in importance by the Winter League. We would appreciate your attendance in these galas unless you have spoken with a Coach. League Galas are selection based and we would expect all competitive* swimmers to be available for all league Galas. Seniors have 6 per year, Juniors have 9.

We have selected the Galas to try and give as many swimmers an opportunity to compete as possible. EG We will use the Diddy warm up galas in February & March to give as many swimmers opportunities as possible. Please note we do appreciate that quite a lot of swimmers miss out on being selected for Galas. To stand a better chance of being selected please make the most of club Champs and Open Meets to record new times.

I often get asked why we don’t have more Gala Teams when so many swimmers miss out. We would like to have more teams in the League Galas but do have a requirement by the league to provide a certain amount of volunteers and officials. I cannot select a team if I cannot honour those requirements. For every Interclub Gala team where we are not hosting we need 7 People. 1 Coach, 2 x DBS checked adults to Team Manage, 1 x Judge (J2 level in Arena league), 2 x Time Keepers(J1 level in Arena League) 1 Person to record Splits.

When we are hosting at Hinckley, we need the above 7 people and also 1 Person in charge, 2 Refs, 2 x chief Timekeepers, 1 Runner, 2 Recorders, 2 people to man the admissions desk, 1 announcer, 1 person on refreshments. To have a 3rd team in League Galas we do need a few more people to help with the organising, so if you can offer and get trained up as a judge or Timekeeper it would be appreciated, or helping with the Recording or Team Managing.

2021/22 Championships

As a club from the start of the season, one of our targets is the Leicestershire County Age group Champs and we aim for as many swimmers as possible to qualify. To compete in Counties you need to get a QT or consideration time that appears on the British swimming Rankings website https://www.swimmingresults.org/12months/

To get a time on the rankings website and qualify for county champs you must compete in a licensed event like club champs or an Open Meet. Some Interclub Galas are licensed and times achieved will appear on Rankings however many are not.

We would expect all Competitive* swimmers to swim in our club champs and aim to qualify and swim in the County champs.

Regional champs take part in April and May. Qualifying times are a lot tougher to achieve and must be achieved in a level 1-3 Licensed Meet.

* We class a Competitive swimmer as one of the following; A swimmer who trains with City of Leicester. A swimmer who has more than one session a week  A swimmer on 2 or more sessions a week, unless it has been agreed they are non competitive swimmers.
