Hinckley Swimming Club has been an established club since 1910 and is both a teaching and competitive club and our swimmers range from 5 years to Adults.
We take all abilities from complete beginners to competitive swimmers. The swimmers are coached by fully qualified, friendly and dedicated staff. We use all of the leisure centres three pools which enables us to develop a swimmer to their full potential from the very start. Our more competitive swimmers can also be invited to train at the John Cleveland Pool. Our mission is to enable the people of Hinckley and the surrounding area to learn to swim, and to participate in both competitive and recreational swimming irrespective of age, gender, colour or creed. |

Learn to Swim Scheme
Hinckley Swimming Club is committed to the ASA National Teaching Plan and has developed the plan in all swimming sessions. Swimmers begin in the learner pool where they work through levels 1?3, this is where they master water confidence through to basic strokes. From the learner pool they progress on to the flume pool where they will continue with both water skills and stroke development. At this stage they will work through grades 4?5 and will be able to swim the three main strokes Front Crawl, Back Stroke and Breaststroke. Swimmers will also start to develop the basic concept of Butterfly. Once swimmers are competent and have achieved a good grade 5 they progress to the main pool where they will continue with stroke development and start to improve their stamina and learn the early basics of competitive swimming. |

Diddy and Seniors Sessions
Once our swimmers have reached the limit of our learn to swim programme or have shown an early competitive potential they will move into the "Diddy" sessions.
Within the coaching sessions swimmers will learn to develop their strokes further and also start to work through the ASA competitive start awards which will teach them the correct competitive dives. The swimmers will also continue their work on stamina and will start to work to a structured training plan. The swimmer progresses they move into the senior session which caters from those as young as 10 up to and including swimmers in their 40's!
All swimmers will be encouraged to compete for the club in both friendly competitions and local galas and in the major leagues in which the club competes.
Swimmers when they have reached a stage in their development maybe invited to the squad and squad development sessions at the newly refurbished JCC pool. The 4 lane 25m pool is where we have three sessions per week. On Mondays we have a development hour for younger swimmers followed by 90 minute main session, and a main session on Wednesday.
There are criteria in place to swimming at JCC and retaining a place there, based on attendance and application foremostly and to a certain extent acomplishment.
The aim of the JCC sessions is to help our swimmers hit their potential and give more pool time to those looking to hit midlands championship qualifying times or break into the County development and City of Leicester set up. That is the next rung up the ladder in the wold of competitive swimming.
